Body piercing aftercare record

Updated 2026-06-14 · UK (England & Wales)

A piercing aftercare record documents the cleaning routine you gave the client (saline soaks, don't twist or remove jewellery, avoid swimming and touching with unwashed hands), the expected healing time for that site, and the client's acknowledgement. It protects you if a client doesn't follow aftercare and develops a problem.

What piercing aftercare should cover

  • Clean with sterile saline; avoid alcohol, peroxide and harsh products.
  • Don't twist, rotate or remove the jewellery while healing.
  • Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs and submerging during early healing.
  • Wash hands before touching; keep bedding and phones clean.
  • Healing-time expectations by site and when to seek advice.
